Premier League clubs praised for ticket price reductions

All but two English Premier League football clubs have reduced or frozen season ticket prices ahead of the 2016-17 season, according to a report by the Sunday People newspaper.

Everton, Liverpool and West Ham United have cut season tickets prices, while Hull City said that their new membership scheme will reduce the amount fans pay over the course of the campaign, even though concessions for children and pensioners have been scrapped.

Another 14 teams have kept their prices the same ahead of the new season, with only Sunderland and newly-promoted Middlesbrough raising prices.

The news was welcomed by fans’ groups, with supporters from clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool among those to have protested about proposed ticket prices since the start of the year.

A Football Supporters’ Federation spokesman said: “We asked our members for their thoughts on what their own clubs were doing on ticket prices for 2016-17 and most thought their clubs were taking a step in the right direction.”
