Court ruling rocks print-at-home charges

The charging of service fees on print-at-home tickets could be outlawed in Germany after a landmark ruling against CTS Eventim.

The North Rhine-Westphalian Consumer Association launched a lawsuit complaining that the ticketing agent was charging customers a €2.50 (£2.10 / $2.80) fee despite them having to print their own tickets.

The District Court of Bremen ruled that Eventim should only charge extra fees on top of ticket prices for postage costs.

According to the Express.de website, the court also found it to be “inadmissible” that the company charged €29.90 for the delivery within Germany of tickets to see rock band AC/DC in 2015.

Should the ruling not be appealed by Eventim, fans could be reimbursed for delivery and service charges.

The test case could also affect other operators in Germany that also charge service fees for print-at-home tickets, such as ADticket, Ticketmaster ReserviX, easy ticket, Bonnticket and D ticket.
