Salute for Little Mix fans after ticket glitches

Gloucester Rugby paid tribute to Little Mix fans as thousands were left frustrated when the venue’s ticket system was forced to close due to “huge” demand yesterday (Monday).

Tickets went on general sale yesterday (Monday) after the city’s 30,000-capacity stadium struggled to cope with demand during a presale open to season ticket holders and club members. The box office soon closed temporarily, as fans looking to buy in person after queuing since early in the morning or online were left frustrated.

While some Little Mix fans chose to leave the queue during late morning, the Gloucestershire Live news website reported all those that remained at the box office were allocated tickets from the remaining allocation. Ticket operator Ticketmaster also released 500 general admission tickets a day early, which sold out within an hour.

Gloucester Rugby chief executive Stephen Vaughan said the club had not expected demand for Little Mix – whose hits include ‘Salute’ and ‘Black Magic’ – to be so high.

“We expected this concert to be busy, but we have been taken aback by the huge interest in sales for the Little Mix concert,” he told Gloucestershire Live. “It surpasses what we have seen to date.

“Right from 9am on Saturday morning when we opened our pre-sale for our club and 1873 members, the phones have been ringing off the hook and it literally has become the hottest ticket in town.

“There will inevitably be disappointment for those who can’t secure tickets and queuing can be frustrating, especially if you don’t get tickets at the end of it. We decided to come off sale for a short period today to cope with the demand that was building and ensure that we are processing everything that is being ordered. We have a new ticketing system so these checks and balances are sensible.”
