GB Taekwondo partners with Earnie to bolster ticket sales

Great Britain Taekwondo has partnered with sport creative consultancy Earnie to boost its ticket sales for four events in England over the next three years.

The company will be tasked with creating campaigns to build spectator numbers year-on-year in the run up to the 2019 World Championships at the Manchester Arena. Earnie won the creative account following a public tender and shortlisted pitch process.

Alongside the sport’s existing strategic marketing consultancy partner eightyone600, Earnie will be involved in delivering a fully-integrated marketing plan, brand strategy and campaign identities for each for the four events.

In the previous three years, eightyone600 took a lead role in helping GB Taekwondo with its ticket sales planning.

“Following a highly-successful Olympics last year, GB Taekwondo is keen to build upon its legacy with a number of big events in the UK,” said Ian Leafe, events manager at GB Taekwondo, in a statement.

“Following a thorough pitch process, we were impressed by Earnie’s recommendations to deliver a response-led creative solution that works alongside our other event partners.”

Alistair Gammell, managing director of Earnie, said: “We are thrilled to be working with GB Taekwondo and helping shape the next few years of big events.

“By starting with the commercial objectives and placing the campaign emphasis on tracking, reporting and delivery we are confident of reaching the ticket sales targets.”

Earnie has been employed by taekwondo’s UK governing body at a time of growth for the sport. Great Britain won three Olympic medals at Rio 2016, including gold for defending champion Jade ones in the women’s 57kg category.

As well as hosting the 2019 World Championships, Manchester will also stage a leg of the 2018 WTF World Taekwondo Grand-Prix Series.

The Copper Box Arena in Hackney, which was used for Olympic competitions at London 2012, will be a venue for this year’s Grand-Prix Series in October.
