Online live performance network LiveXLive acquires EDM ticketing platform Wantickets

LiveXLive, the internet network devoted to live music performances and music-related video content, has acquired electronic dance music ticketing company Wantickets, expanding its portfolio of venues and festivals.

The acquisition will give LiveXLive a broader reach of its content by using its database of ticket buyers, helping to launch its pay-per-view on demand and subscription model.

Since its launch in 2015, LiveXLive has been building an online destination for music fans to enjoy premium live performances from music venues and leading music festivals around the world, such as Rock in Rio, Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival and Hangout Music Festival, as well as premium original content, artist exclusives and industry interviews.

Wantickets will expand the firm’s capabilities to deliver an “integrated and immersive experience” to consumers, including ticketing, fan club memberships, VIP experiences, or travel packages.

Through the data collected from these transactions, LiveXLive can use the information to promote live streaming experiences for fans’ favourite artists.

Wantickets has worked with more than 1,000 venues, including several major nightclub groups in Las Vegas that focus on the dance, electronic music and DJ scene. The company has sold more than five million tickets to almost three million unique customers.

“This acquisition is hopefully the first of many and moves LiveXLive closer and closer to delivering the most unique user experience for consumers globally, providing them the ability to simultaneously interact and transact, all while enjoying the best live music in the world,” LiveXLive president and chairman Rob Ellin said.

“By adding a company with key expertise in reaching our music-loving audience, coupled with our skill in producing both live and original content experiences, we are growing closer to realising our vision of becoming the singular destination for the enjoyment of music programming.”

In addition, the Wanticket chief executive and chief financial officer are set to join the LiveXLive Tickets executive team in their same roles.
