Glasgow 2018 ready for ticket launch

Tickets for next year’s Glasgow 2018 European Championships will go on sale through Ticketmaster on June 14, organisers have confirmed.

The multi-sport event, which will feature gymnastics, aquatics, cycling, rowing and triathlon, is expected to attract around 250,000 spectators next August. It will run in tandem with the European Athletics Championships, which is to take place in Berlin.

The Glasgow 2018 European Championships will feature 3,000 athletes and see 84 sessions take place in 12 venues across the city.

Ticketmaster, as lead ticketing agent, will deliver a full end-to-end ticketing service, handling operational ticket sales including management of central inventory, receipt and fulfilment of orders, operation of telephone and retail outlets, internet sales, equipment and staff for retail and venue sales.

Inclusive and accessible

Ticketmaster will deliver up to 85 per cent of the total ticket sales for Glasgow 2018 with an estimated overall total sales value of £2.9m ($3.6m/€3.9m). Ticketmaster has agreed to work with Glasgow 2018 to devise a policy to accommodate ticket exchange.

Organisers said they are aiming to make the event “inclusive and accessible” with prices starting at £10, and under 16s tickets for £5.

The sporting action will take place across 12 venues in Glasgow and Scotland including Glasgow’s iconic SSE Hydro (gymnastics), Edinburgh’s Royal Commonwealth Pool (diving), Strathclyde Country Park (rowing and triathlon) in North Lanarkshire and Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course (golf) in Perth & Kinross.

Andrew Parsons, managing director, Ticketmaster UK, said: “We look forward to providing the very best ticketing solutions, along with our unrivalled reach and distribution to the Glasgow 2018 European Championships. Together we will work to cement Glasgow 2018’s position on the UK’s sporting map.”
