AirAsia’s event ticketing business RedTix to become separate company

AirAsia, the Malaysian budget airline, has announced it will float its RedTix event ticketing business.

The airline said in a statement issued to the Bursa Malaysia stock exchange that it had acquired shell company Rokki Media Holdings and rebranded it as RedTix Sdn Bhd.

RedTix previously operated as a division of AirAsia Bhd. It is one of the region’s most popular local ticket agencies.

AirAsia said in a statement: “Acquiring RTSB (RedTix Sdn Bhd) would allow AAB (AirAsia) to float the RedTix event-ticketing business in the future, which currently resides within AAB, as a separate entity by itself to enable it to have an independent and focused management to drive the RedTix event-ticketing business.”

Sami Joseph El Hadery, the co-founder of AirAsia’s Tune Box inflight entertainment brand will be the new company’s director, along with How Kim Lian, the airline’s chief financial officer.

The RedTix platform gives customers a way to discuss, review and book tickets for concerts, sporting events, musicals and theatre performances, while also providing music and entertainment news, tour dates and event calendars.
