StubHub entices Citi’s Matt Swann to take CTO role

StubHub has appointed former Citi and Amazon executive Matt Swann as its new chief technology officer.

Swann will be charged with leading StubHub’s technology strategy to drive growth and integrate innovation.

Swann joins StubHub from Citi, where he served as chief information officer of the Global Consumer Bank. StubHub said that while at the financial services company, Swann “over[saw] the creation of a customer-first culture that delivered transformative new digital applications, experiences, and developer platforms at one of the world’s largest and most scalable financial platforms”.

“StubHub is focused on connecting fans to inspiring live event experiences across any screen – anytime, anywhere – and Matt’s wealth of digital experience will help on its mission to deliver great customer experiences worldwide,” said Scott Cutler, senior vice president of eBay Americas.

“Having led multiple global product and technology transformations at scale, Matt will be key to reimagining the event experience by overseeing StubHub’s diverse technical infrastructure and creating environments where builders can rapidly develop disruptive, innovative products.”

Before Citi, Swann was Global Payments Chief at Amazon, where he led cutting-edge product, marketing, sales, and technology teams that enabled hundreds of millions of customers to buy and sell on the platform, resulting in billions of dollars in growth.

Swann, who will be based in San Francisco, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University.
