Brewers hit home run on tickets for Marlins series

Major League Baseball franchise Milwaukee Brewers has increased the inventory for its relocated series against the displaced Miami Marlins due to high demand.

The Brewers sold all 30,000 field-level tickets for the three-game series in just 45 minutes.

The match up was originally scheduled to be held at Marlins Park in Florida, but following the destruction of Hurricane Irma, the series was moved to Miller Park (pictured) in Milwaukee.

The Brewers initially planned to sell 10,000 tickets for the Friday game, but bumped it up to 23,000 for each of the three matches due to the high demand.

Tickets went on sale at 10am and caused the website to crash due to the temporary overload. Fans are being encouraged to try again if they failed to obtain a ticket originally.

All $15 (£11/€12.50) and $20 field level tickets were sold out by the end of the day, though many $10 lodge level seats are still available.

“There’s a good number of $10 tickets remaining, so we want fans to know that,” Brewers vice president Tyler Barnes said. “The fan response has been great. We expect crowds in the 20,000 range for each game.

In addition, the Brewers told its fans that concessions would see a 25 per cent discount throughout the series, and students were able to buy $5 tickets for Friday’s game.

“We appreciate the efforts of Delaware North in going to great lengths to ensure proper staffing for concession operations, and now giving us an opportunity to create more inventory for the games,” Brewers chief operating officer Rick Schlesinger said.

“We are looking forward to a great experience for the fans, and a great environment for the players as well.”
