Ticket woes continue for LA Chargers

Ticket concerns continue for Los Angeles’ newest NFL team, as away fans and signage took the majority of seats at the LA Chargers’ latest game at StubHub Center.

Despite taking place more than 2,700 miles from Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Eagles fans were in the ascendency at the 27,000-seat stadium in California. Anecdotal evidence suggested as many as 70-80 per cent of spectators were backers of the away team, while crowd noise was overwhelmingly supportive of the Eagles.

The Eagles’ The700Level.com blog reported: “Seas of midnight green dominate the landscape, and the roars of approval for the Eagles taking the field — and boos for the Chargers — sound a lot like Lincoln Financial Field. It’s truly a sight to behold, and even beat writers who have been covering this team for decades are saying they’ve rarely if ever seen anything quite like it.”

Meanwhile, the LA Chargers have denied using tarpaulin signage in the upper deck of the StubHub Center to cover up seats as they continue to draw small crowds.

The Chargers told ProFootball Talk that the signage has been there all season and does not impact the stadium’s seating capacity as there are no seats underneath.

Officials explained that StubHub Center’s 30,000 capacity has been reduced to 27,000 for 2017 at least, with signage used in the unused upper section.
