Liverpool boss quells fan frustration over away tickets

Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore has responded to anger from fans about hard-to-get away tickets seemingly being offered to foreign VIP clients.

Australian company Great Events listed promotional material in its travel packages stating that customer can “see three games – two featuring LFC at Anfield plus cheer on the Reds (in the away section) at Old Trafford v Man United.”

The £4,000 (€4,483/$5,277) packages give Australian Liverpool supporters two-and-a-half-weeks in the UK next February, though Moore insists they won’t be sitting in Liverpool’s away section at Old Trafford.

Away tickets are notoriously challenging to come by as supporters are required to accrue credits from the previous season in order to be a part of the allocation. Fans took their anger to social media about the away tickets promotional offer, with Moore responding on Twitter.

He said: “No tickets have been offered to this company. Nor will they.

“The tickets don’t even exist as of yet. I took 10 seconds to read their T&Cs…’based on availability’, that’s all you need to know right there.”

The March 10 game at Old Trafford will see Liverpool get an allocation of around 3,000 tickets.
