NYCFC nets StubHub deal

StubHub has set its sights on improving fan experience at New York City FC after partnering with the Major League Soccer (MLS) club.

The deal will see StubHub become the US football team’s official fan-to-fan ticket resale marketplace. It will replace NYCFC’s former Ticket Exchange platform.

As part of the sponsorship agreement with NYCFC, StubHub will receive full marketing and sponsorship benefits, including in-stadium signage, branding on digital, and use of official team marks.

The ticketing protocol for NYCFC home games will see some changes in order to comply with the Yankee Stadium policy and expedite entry at the gates for fans.

NYCFC has been in the process of moving to mobile-only ticketing, and will no longer offer PDF tickets to fans after initially beginning to eliminate print-at-home paper tickets in 2016.

City Members can now transfer tickets to friends and family whenever they want, which eliminates the two-week delivery delay that was in place for PDFs.

PDF usage has reportedly dropped more than 20 per cent amongst City Members since the club’s inaugural season, with mobile becoming increasing more popular.

New York City FC president, Jon Patricof, said: “We are excited to partner with StubHub. We are confident this partnership will provide a great platform to buy and resell tickets to our NYCFC matches.

“We are constantly evaluating how to better the fan experience. Staying on the forefront of tech innovations is a priority for us and will allow us to continually enhance the fan journey from start to finish.”
