Liverpool owners sign up with biometric ticketing leader IdentoGO

Biometric ticketing could be coming to Liverpool’s Anfield after a deal was reportedly struck between the club’s owners and IdentoGO by Idemia.

The SportTechie.com website reported that Fenway Sports Group has partnered with Idemia to implement its IdentoGO service, initially at Boston Red Sox’s Fenway Park.

Although details of the agreement are yet to be confirmed, SportTechie.com said the deal is likely to include some form of biometric ticketing at the Red Sox’s 38,000-capacity home. Services could include fingerprint and iris scans or facial recognition on entry to the venue, as well as incorporating biometrics into the team’s concessions and rewards programs.

Charles Carroll, vice-president of enrolment services at Idemia, said the initial agreement with Fenway Sports Group could also be extended to include Anfield, the home of English Premier League football club Liverpool.

Liverpool, which will compete in the UEFA Champions League final later in the month, is also owned by Fenway.

Idemia has similar partnerships in place with NFL American football teams the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets, as well as the Barclays Center in New York, where both NBA basketball franchise the Brooklyn Nets and NHL ice hockey outfit the New York Islanders play their home games.

SportTechie.com said the company is also currently in talks about potential deals with the New York Giants, which shares the Metlife Stadium with the Jets.
