Aberdeen urges 50-50 ticket split for Scottish League Cup final

Aberdeen

Scottish Premiership football club Aberdeen is seeking an equal ticket allocation for its League Cup final match against Celtic next month.

Aberdeen progressed to the final by beating Morton on Saturday and will travel to Hampden Park, the country’s national stadium, on November 27, hoping to win the knockout competition for a seventh time.

Just over 16,000 supporters were in attendance for Aberdeen’s semi-final against Morton, although the club took approximately 40,000 fans to Celtic Park when Aberdeen last won the trophy in 2014.

With the two finalists set to discuss ticket allocations this week, Aberdeen has urged organisers to grant both clubs an equal number of seats at the game. The Scottish Professional Football League has already agreed to intervene should a deal not be agreed.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes said: “Parity must be seen to take place – a split down the middle; 50-50. We could sell our allocation twice over. Common sense should prevail. Anything other than 50-50 would be a disgrace in my view.”
