Accesso unveils new smart wrist band for theme parks

Technology company Accesso has unveiled Prism, a new electronic wrist band that will be used at a number of theme parks across the US.

The Lake Mary-headquartered company’s new release will allow visitors to “have the entire park operation on their wrist”, according to chief executive Steve Brown.

The band, which includes a small waterproof screen, was revealed to the industry at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo at Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Prism has a battery life of up to 200 days and offers a virtual queuing system – similar to the Qbot system already offered by Accesso – plus the ability to work as a credit card and hotel room key. The band will also send alerts about ride delays or closures.

Qbot is a handheld ride reservation service that will be replaced by Prism by the end of 2018, Accesso said.

“Nobody wants to wait in line,” Brown added to the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. “Nobody wants to worry about wallets.

“We envision a day when guests will not wait in line for an attraction.”
