All-Ireland final resellers ignore GAA warning

Tickets for this weekend’s All-Ireland football final are being resold for almost €600 (£510/$670), despite a warning from the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) that holders of “black market” tickets could be refused entry to the game.

The governing body warned last month that anyone who buys a ticket for more than the face value price of €80 could be turned away from the Croke Park match between Mayo and Dublin.

However, final tickets – which were initially sold exclusively through local GAA clubs – are now being offered at secondary marketplace needaticket.ie for as much as $590.

Speaking last month, Alan Milton, GAA’s head of communications, said: “We have the facility to cancel any ticket in any part of the ground if we know that it has been sold on the black market.

“We have done it in the past. Every year we have thousands of genuine GAA supporters who can’t get tickets, which is why we have a zero tolerance policy.”
