Bookitbee unveils free service in North America

Event booking and ticket platform Bookitbee is to launch a free service in North America.

Event organisers in the US and Canada with Bee Free accounts will not be charged for ticketing, while having their event promoted for free to potential ticket buyers.

Bookitbee said users with larger events or more functional needs will have the opportunity to upgrade for premium features, which include support, allocated seating, full service ticketing or merchandise. The initiative is initially being launched in the US and Canada with additional locations being rolled out over the next 12 months.

“Bookitbee is positioned as a challenger brand – it has all the features people need, for free,” said Frank Di Mauro, chief operating officer and co-founder of Bookitbee, which is used by more than 4,000 event organisers globally.

“The launch of the Bee Free account means that event organisers can bring people together for events without paying fees, hopefully encouraging them to put on more events and helping to grow the online ticketing market.

“We think this initiative is long overdue and will shake up the industry, giving event organisers more flexibility and choice.”

Bookitbee, which was founded in 2013 and whose clients include the global Ultra EDM music festivals, said the first 10,000 applicants will have access to the new remodelled Bee Free accounts on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Kent-based company said all paid for events were previously charged at 2 per cent 75¢ per ticket in the US and 2 per cent 95¢ in Canada, while free events have always been free of fees.

The company said: “With the new model only premium accounts will be charged the same fees, which are still one of the most competitive in the market.”
