Bournemouth fans’ fury at missing start of cup game

English Premier League football club AFC Bournemouth is to review its ticketing policies after long queues at turnstiles caused fans to miss the start of the club’s EFL Cup game against Preston North End earlier this week.

The club said the queues were caused by a high number of people buying tickets for the first time, and that it had made “every effort" to advise supporters to pre-purchase and collect their tickets as far in advance of the match as possible and to arrive early to avoid queues.

Many supporters used social media to criticise the club, with some suggesting that many fans had gone home rather than wait.

Posting on Facebook ahead of the game at the Vitality Stadium, Dave Crawford said: "We are stuck outside waiting to collect pre-paid tickets. 45 mins queuing so far. Will we get in by half time? It's an absolute farce."
