Dertour extends 60-year German Olympic deal

Dertour has signed a new agreement with the German Olympic Committee (DOSB) some 60 years after the two began their partnership.

Under the terms of the deal, the ticket and travel agent will be the only official ticket agency in Germany for the Winter and Summer Olympics and Paralympics in 2018 and 2020.

In addition, Dertour will again be the official travel partner of the German Olympic team for the events in Pyeongchang, South Korea and Tokyo, Japan.

“The DOSB for 60 years has been familiar with our expertise as a sports tour operator,” said Rudolf Stäuble, head of special tours at Dertour.

Dertour said it has sold around 35,000 tickets for this year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The company said this included around 8,000 tickets for track and field, while it has also sold around 1,2000 travel packages.

Axel Achten, chief executive of Deutsche Sport Marketing (DSM), the marketing agency of the DOSB, said: “Dertour has made an important contribution in the organisation and execution of trips. Both the needs of the German Olympic team and the fans and visitors are optimally met.”
