Dodgers defend season-ticket price rises

David Siegel, the vice-president of ticket sales at the Los Angeles Dodgers, has insisted that tickets to watch the Major League Baseball franchise represent good value for money despite broad price increases ahead of next season.

According to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, prices have increased for every season ticket, with some fans hit with a double-digit increase for a second consecutive season.

The Dodgers raised the price of the cheapest season-ticket seat to $11 (£8.82/€10.30) per game – an increase of 120 per cent over the past two years.

The franchise has also increased parking prices by as much as 27 per cent for season-ticket holders.

Siegel said that the franchise expects to hit the 35,000 sales mark – the cap the team has placed on season-ticket sales.

“We believe in the value of the game and the in-game experience,” Siegel said. “That’s what we’re going to rest on.”

Siegel noted the investment of more than $200m into stadium facilities, including a new sound system, scoreboards and an upgraded Wi-Fi system.
