A new platform that allows sports teams to better manage complimentary tickets has been launched by the GameChanger division of Unity FI Solutions, a US-based provider of payment and processing services.
Player Pass enables athletes and staff to electronically request game tickets through an online portal and send a confirmation email to their guest notifying them that their tickets are available. The platform allows the team to keep an accurate record of how many tickets are distributed and how many are used, with GameChanger aiming to provide a system that can be integrated into the sports organisation’s game-day operations.
GameChanger said Player Pass is currently being updated to add enhancements, such as allowing tickets to be instantly emailed to the intended recipient, who then has the option to print the ticket or present it on their mobile device on game day.
The platform is being trialled by Minor League Baseball team Charlotte Knights, which is a Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the Major League Baseball franchise.
“Player Pass is a cost-effective remedy to an antiquated process many teams still use today to distribute complimentary tickets to loved ones,” said Matt Millward, director of ticket sales and operation for the Knights.
GameChanger was founded earlier this year with as a platform that could meet the payment processing and ticketing needs of a wide range of athletic organisations, including professional teams, schools and sports leagues.
“Professional sports teams around the country are looking for ways to streamline operations and ultimately provide a better fan experience,” said Steve Contino, co-founder of Unity FI.
