Hillary’s name misspelled on debate ticket

She could be the most powerful person in the world in just a few weeks, but it appears that Hillary Clinton’s face may be more recognisable than her name.

Incredibly, the US presidential candidate’s name was misspelled on commemorative tickets handed to the audience gathered at Hofstra University, New York, to watch the first debate between Clinton and Donald Trump on Monday.

The commemorative tickets listed the Democratic nominee as “Hilary Clinton”, spelling her first name incorrectly. The tickets were handed to more than 300 students who attended the debate, with more than 83 million viewers watching on television.

A spokesman for the Commission on Presidential Debates told the New York Times the misspelling only occurred on commemorative tickets and not on the official ones.

Hofstra University spokeswoman Karla Schuster, in an email to NBC 4 New York, said: "These tickets are not official tickets to the debate. They were printed at the last minute to create a souvenir for the students. We'll be reprinting them for all those who won tickets."
