Manchester United fan banned over ticket resale

Manchester

English Premier League football club Manchester United has issued a three-year ban to a supporter who attempted to sell a ticket on social media.

According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the fan, who has not been named, had advertised a ticket to United’s Europa League away match against Turkish side Fenerbahce. United lost the match 2-1.

Prior to the 2016-17 season, United told supporters that tickets offered for re-sale would result in a three-year ban from attending United matches, home or away. The club classes such activity as a level-four offence, with only abusive and aggressive behaviour towards staff or other criminal activity deemed worthy of harsher sanctions.

In addition to the ban, the unnamed supporter has had his season ticket with the club cancelled, without refund. The fan has been given the opportunity to appeal the decision.
