Rock band front man joins calls for secondary market scrutiny

Josh Franceschi, the front man of rock band You Me At Six, has become the latest leading figure in the music industry to speak out about the impact of individuals who buy tickets only to resell them on secondary websites.

Franceschi took to social media website Twitter to speak out about the issue, which has emerged as a major talking point over recent months.

Earlier this year, a number of top music promoters and artists established the FanFair Alliance, a UK-based lobby group that is trying to push governments into changing laws regarding secondary ticket markets.

“People that only buy gig tickets to resell at three times face value are my worst enemy,” Franceschi said on Twitter. “So unfair on genuine fans of the artist.”

He later added: “I want to change how we sell our tickets… and I want it in place for the next EU/UK tour.”

Skiddle, the website that reported the singer’s rant, launched Re:Sell earlier this year – a ticket exchange that only deals with tickets at face value.
