Taiwan police probe data breach

Police in Taiwan are investigating cybercrimes at the country’s iconic National Theatre Concert Hall (NTCH), with concerns that the venue’s own staff may be involved in fraud.

The theatre has admitted that it has fallen victim to a data breach, with scammers phoning those on its customer list and attempting to gain bank and credit card details. More than 600 complaints have been made.

According to the Taipei Times newspaper, some of the phone numbers used by fraudsters included the NTCH’s customer service line itself.

NCTH officials told the newspaper that the Ministry of Justice’s Investigation Bureau and the police are investigating.
