Ticketmaster to use paperless technology for charity events

Ticketmaster has linked up with UK promoter Lock N Load to provide a paperless ticketing service for Rave for Refugees, a two-date charity event taking place next month.

The paperless entry technology, which will allow attendees to use credit or debit cards rather than a ticket, will aim to nullify the potential resale of tickets for the gigs at inflated values.

Those planning to come to the events must be able to present their card and photo ID at the point of entry.

Ticketmaster has also vowed to prevent passes for the events from ending up on resale websites.

The events will take place at Electric Brixton in London on December 8 and 15. All of the proceeds from the events will be put towards the Help Refugees Choose Love campaign.

“Ticketmaster has the technology available to allow any event organiser to create and control their own ticketing strategy,” Ticketmaster UK managing director Andrew Parsons said. “So we are very happy to be working with Lock N Load on these club nights, implementing our proven Paperless ticketing technology to ensure all proceeds from ticket sales go straight to Help Refugees, a charity we’re very proud to support.”
