Travel ticketing app still crashing after Android update

Commuters in the US state of Oregon are still experiencing problems with the Trimet mobile ticketing app some three weeks after the release of the newest version of the Android operating system.

The transit agency, which services more than 300,000 travellers per day in the Portland area, said the developer of its TriMet Tickets app, the Daimler-owned Moovel North America, is working on a fix, but it still didn’t have a release date for a new version.

Users have complained that ever since the launch of Google’s Android 7.0, nicknamed Nougat, the app has crashed on start-up, which means they are unable to access fares saved to their device.

The entertainment and sports sectors will be keeping a close eye on how the issues are resolved.

The problem has arisen just four months after iPhone users noted similar problems with TriMet when Apple updated its iOS operating system.

“Users who are experiencing issues can sign-up to be a part of the app beta test group and the feedback provided will be utilised to continue to improve the app,” said Trimet spokeswoman Angela Murphy, according to the Oregon Live website.

“TriMet is committed to making sure all customer issues are addressed and any ticketing issues are corrected. We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work through these issues.”
