Hammers reissue tickets as segregation zone is enlarged

West Ham United have cancelled and reissued some away tickets for this weekend’s Premier League football match against Stoke City in a bid to prevent further crowd trouble at their London Stadium home ground.

After disturbances between West Ham and Chelsea supporters during last week’s EFL Cup match at the former Olympic Stadium, the Hammers have widened the segregation area.

Some 85 seats sold to Stoke fans will now become part of the segregation zone, with those affected to be moved to another part of the allocated away area. The club said it is trying to contact those affected.

The Daily Mail newspaper also reports that West Ham season-ticket holders have also been asked to move.

In a club statement, Stoke told their fans: “The Potters have been advised by West Ham that supporters in certain seats will be issued with new ones for Saturday’s game due to a change in seating arrangements.”

Last week’s cup match saw missiles thrown between home and away fans and the Hammers have vowed to ban as many as 200 supporters involved in the disturbances. Crowd trouble has been a regular occurrence at the London Stadium since the club relocated there during the summer following 112 years at Upton Park.

There are also plans to build taller barriers on the lower concourse walkway which connects the rival sections as well as improving segregation outside the stadium.
