Indy Eleven reduces prices to reclaim NASL top spot

North American soccer team Indy Eleven is hoping to halt a two-year attendance slide by revamping season ticket packages and lowering prices.

The second-tier North American Soccer League (NASL) franchise is to reduce season-ticket prices despite including an extra 17th game. The team was the league’s attendance leader with an average gate of more than 10,000 in 2014, but that figure fell to just 8,300 this year.

Eleven president Jeff Belskus said there will be major price decreases in some sections, with passes for the Premier Sideline falling from $1,072 (£858/€966) to $800 while fans in the Premier Midfield will now pay $1,200 rather than $1,600.

Belskus told the Indianapolis Business Journal newspaper that the idea is to give season-ticket holders a bigger percentage discount over single-game ticket prices.

“That’s one thing we’ve heard from our season-ticket buyers,” Belskus said. “They didn’t think there was a big enough difference between the price of tickets when you bought them in a season package compared to single-game prices. We’re trying to add more value for our season-ticket customers.”

After putting a cap on its season-ticket sales in 2014, Eleven sold 7,000. That number decreased to just over 6,000 last year. Belskus declined to say how many season tickets the team sold in 2016.
