New app offers unlimited sports tickets each month for just $29

Sports fans in the US city of Atlanta can now attend as many major local events for a set monthly fee following the launch of a new subscription-based service.

INWEGO costs just $29 (£22/€25) per month and gives fans the opportunity to attend an unlimited number of games each month featuring the Georgia city’s NFL, NBA and MLB teams, as well as local PGA Tour golf competitions and other events.

The app is built by Experience, the team behind ExpApp, the seat upgrade and VIP experience technology which is used by more than 300 live entertainment partners in North America including nearly 75% of all professional sports teams.

Subscribers can check into an event up to six days or as little as a few minutes before it takes place. They can also link up with their friends’ subscription so that they can attend games together.

“The really cool thing to me is I’ve never seen a consumer application that is like this,” said Greg Foster, president and chief executive of Experience.

“It requires that in a market, you have enough breadth to make it worth your money. You can’t just pay the money but the Hawks are out of the package or the Braves are out of the package. You have to have breadth to it. We worked really hard to get those deals in place to make the value proposition really compelling.”

Atlanta will be the first market where INWEGO is available, although Experience said new markets will soon be considered.

The app has proved popular with professional sports teams, with Steve Koonin, the chief executive of the Atlanta Hawks NBA basketball franchise, explaining that it allows fans to make a last-minute decision to attend games.

“Research has shown that young people are not necessarily planners to go to a game weeks in advance,” said Koonin. “We see tremendous utilisation of the app on weekend games and featured games where people are saying, ‘What do you want to do tonight?’ Sports in Atlanta are an entertainment option. We are fortunate to be in a city with great restaurants and a lot of things to do. If you are deciding what to do on a Friday or Saturday night, going to a sporting event is an option.”
