Songkick accuses Ticketmaster of destroying evidence

Event discovery and ticket vendor Songkick has accused Ticketmaster and its owner Live Nation of destroying evidence in an antitrust suit at a California federal court.

According to the Law360 legal news website, Complete Entertainment Resources, the corporate name for Songkick, also accused the companies of refusing to produce requested documents and information despite these things being “reasonably available”.

Songkick’s legal team told the court: “Defendants have refused to produce documents, data, and information that are central to Songkick’s claims and that Songkick knows exist.”

Songkick is suing Live Nation and Ticketmaster over allegations they undertook a concerted effort to hamper its business, doing so through their dominant respective positions in the live event and ticketing industries.

Its claims against Live Nation and Ticketmaster include “conspiracy in restraint of trade, the monopolisation and attempt to monopolise, unfair competition, intentional interference with contracts and intentional interference with prospective economic relations that are unrelated to the 2010 Ticketmaster merger with Live Nation”.

In June 2016, the UK start-up, which has raised more than $60m (£48.0m/€54.0m) in funding, merged with artist-ticketing service Crowdsurge.
