The online movie ticket sector is set to grow by more than 7% over the next year according to a new report.
Transparency Market Research (TMR) said the expansion of major operators such as BIG Cinemas, Bookmyshow.com and AOL MovieFone INC will lead to the sector being worth some $13.7bn (£10.3bn/€12.2bn) by the end of 2017.
TMR said the online movie ticketing market is experiencing continuous growth due to increasing digitalisation, rising disposable income of consumers, internet services and frequent movie releases. However, it said that growth could be curtailed by cybercrime, fraudulent sites and lack of trust in online transactions.
TMR said: “The online movie ticketing market is experiencing continuous growth due to changing need for entertainment, penetration of internet, more awareness about online services and intensive advertising.”
