UFC fans’ outrage at Manchester sell out

British Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fans have been left frustrated after tickets for UFC 204 sold out within minutes on Friday and soon appeared on reselling websites.

The Manchester Evening News Arena event will feature local fighter and world champion Michael Bisping, who hailed the swift selling out of all 21,000 tickets as evidence of his own popularity and that of the Mixed Martial Arts championship.

Organisers shared that positive view, with UFC EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) general manager James Elliot saying: “We’re thrilled to see this kind of demand for tickets in the UK. With a stacked card and a UK champion in the main event, this really is a night of sporting action you can’t miss.”

However, frustrated fans who were keen to attend the event pointed to tickets quickly being advertised on reselling sites. StubHub was offering tickets at between £155 and £820 on Monday, compared to the original official price of between £40 and £200.

One fan wrote on Facebook: “UFC need to put something in place. Real fans are getting robbed.”

Another said: “Literally on site at 3secs after 10am and they’re sold out. Now getting flogged on resale site at 3-4 times face value.”
