An afternoon start time has been cited as the main reason why tickets to see Tuesday’s North American Major League Baseball playoff between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals were available for as little as $6 (£4.90/€5.50) on StubHub.
While tickets for Division Series games generally sell for more than $100 on secondary marketplaces, the fourth game between the Dodgers and Nationals – which did not have a confirmed start time on Tuesday afternoon until Monday night – proved less lucrative for sellers.
The game was eventually confirmed for a 2pm PST start following the conclusion of the game between the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants on Monday night.
More than 100 tickets were available for a base price $6, which is the lowest charge allowed by StubHub and the MLB.
Some games for the World Series are already selling for almost $3,000 on StubHub despite the finalists having yet to be decided.
