Police warning over social media ticketing fraud

UK police have urged the public only to use official ticket vendors after a man was arrested in Northumbria in connection with fraud.

The region’s police received a number of reports on Monday of tickets being sold on social media for events only for the buyers to later discover that the tickets did not exist.

Officers said that they were questioning a 28-year-old man who has been arrested in connection with the alleged fraud.

The police asked the public to let them know if they believe they have fallen victim to any such scam.

They also gave a series of guidelines to avoid being defrauded, including advice on payments and the use of secure sites.
