Super Bowl ticket resale prices down year-on-year

Super Bowl ticket resale prices are down by more than 10 per cent year-on-year according to the latest data from StubHub.

The ticket seller said the average ticket price for Patriots-Falcons is $4,697 (£3,750/€4,400). That compares to $5,286 for Panthers-Broncos at this stage last year.

This year’s figure is also significantly down on the $5,133 registered for Seahawks-Broncos in 2014, but up 11 per cent compared to the Patriots-Seahawks game in 2015.

StubHub said Super Bowl LI tickets have sold in the range of $1,950 to $15,432. Last year at this time, Super Bowl 50 ticket price range was between $1,040 to $27,983.

StubHub added that there have been purchases made in 15 different countries from as far away as Australia, Japan and South Africa.

“After the US, sales from Mexico and Canada make up 6.6 per cent of total ticket sales. Total international buyers make up 7.8 per cent of total sales,” said a StubHub spokesperson.

A fifth of StubHub tickets have been bought in Texas, with Massachusetts (15 per cent) and Georgia (14 per cent) next on the list.
