Pyeongchang 2018 buoyed by early ticket requests

Organisers of the 2018 winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang are hopeful of selling 90 per cent of the tickets on offer for the event after 47,220 requests were processed within the first 24 hours of the opening sales phase.

A total of 1.17 million tickets will be put on sale, with about 70 per cent of the buyers expected to hail from the event’s host country, South Korea.

Tickets for all competitions and the opening and closing ceremonies have gone on sale in the opening phase, which will run until April 23. All requests during this phase will be put into a lottery, with the winners then contacted via email between May 8-14.

Once the winners have been notified, tickets can then be purchased via the website using Visa payment cards only. Visa is the exclusive payment card and payment provider of the Games.

The Gangwon Province will host the Olympics from February 9-25 next year.
