Open golf ticket gift for Everton fans

Fans of Premier League club Everton can get a special gift when they buy tickets for this year’s Open Championship.

Evertonians purchasing a ticket to The Open before midnight on Tuesday, February 28, using the online promo code 146thOpenEve, will receive a voucher for an exclusive Open Championship cap in Everton’s famous royal blue colours.

The promotion is part of a media partnership between the Merseyside club and Open organisers ahead of the golf event being staged at nearby Royal Birkdale in July.

The agreement will also see the club and The Open deliver exclusive content to fans in the build-up to the championship, including the Claret Jug visiting Everton’s Goodison Park home ground and Finch Farm training complex.

“This is an innovative collaboration between two of sport’s historic names,” said Everton’s head of engagement Scott McLeod. “The North West is home to England’s Golf Coast and many Evertonians will also be golf fans, this media partnership will give our supporters the chance to get closer to one of the world’s greatest sporting events taking place on our doorstep. With some exclusive content planned with our coaching staff and players as well as golfers, we look forward to working alongside The Open on activating another Everton first.”

Michael Tate, executive director at The R&A, organisers of The Open, said: “We look forward to working with Everton to help generate excitement for the Championship when it returns to Royal Birkdale for the 10th time this summer. I am sure we will see a number of Evertonians around the course during the week wearing their exclusive club and Open caps as we watch Henrik Stenson defend his title of Champion Golfer of the Year.”
