MovieTickets.com expands LA presence with Regency Theatres deal

Online ticketing platform, MovieTickets.com has signed a deal with US cinema operator Regency Theatres.

The agreement with the Los Angeles-based company will add 188 screens in 27 locations throughout the city, contributing to the MovieTickets.com’s presence within the huge California market.

Currently, the ticketing platform represents 400 theatres throughout the state. The deal with Regency builds on MovieTickets.com’s growth over the last year with the number of tickets sold by the company in the first quarter of 2017 increasing 62 per cent year-on-year from 2016.

MovieTickets.com currently enables remote movie ticketing for consumers across 21 countries and territories, including the UK, US, Canada, Ireland, Argentina, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean.

“As buying tickets in advance continues to surge in popularity among moviegoers, we actively look for theatre chains that will expand our network of ticketable theatres, providing customers with more theatre choices and greater convenience,” said Joel Cohen, chief executive of MovieTickets.com. “With a majority of its screens in Los Angeles, Regency services one of the key markets in our domestic footprint.”

Lyndon Golin, president of Regency Theatres, said: “As Regency Theatres seeks to make its showtime information and ticketing easily accessible, MovieTickets.com’s wide-reaching platform delivers. As a pioneer in Internet movie ticketing, we are thrilled to be working with MovieTickets.com.”
