MovieTickets.com collaborates with Sony Pictures to promote four 2017 films

Online ticketing platform MovieTickets.com has teamed up with US entertainment company Sony Pictures in a wide-ranging deal to promote four upcoming films.

The Sony Pictures Entertainment production, ‘Smurfs: The Lost Village’ is out on Friday and will begin the promotional collaboration. ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is out in theatres on July 7, ‘The Emoji Movie’ on July 28, and ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ on December 20.

The promotion will feature co-branded in-theatre one-sheets in more than 1,000 cinemas.

An original co-branded advert for each campaign will also air on more than 6,000 screens, on the MovieTickets.com website, its social media channels, and on the syndicated television shows ‘Made in Hollywood’ and ‘Made in Hollywood: Teen Edition’.

In line with the release of ‘Smurfs: The Lost Village’, a promotional sweepstake kicks off the collaboration with the grand prize of a trip for two adults to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, US, including airfare, transportation, accommodations, and a zip line and rafting adventure.

The partnership between Sony and MovieTickets.com is a follow-on from the pair’s previous collaboration on the ‘Hotel Transylvania’ and ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2’ films.

Jeffrey Godsick, executive vice-president of worldwide partnerships and brands for Sony Pictures Entertainment, said: “As we reinvigorate our brands and partnerships into a worldwide business, we’re excited to be forging new ground.

“This is the most wide-ranging deal that MovieTickets.com has ever done – it puts our movies front-and-centre with audiences and moviegoers where they live: in the movie theatre.”

MovieTickets.com’s vice-president, Jeremy Devine, added: “MovieTickets.com has enjoyed a long relationship with Sony throughout our company’s history, and we are proud of this new unique collaboration.

“The studio’s beloved characters, iconic heroes and incredible talent are a great voice to deliver the message that moviegoers have easy access to purchase advance tickets via our seamless online and mobile platforms.”
