New England Patriots lead ticket resale list after NFL fixtures released

Fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the New England Patriots may well have to fork out big bucks in 2017-18 as the Super Bowl champions dominate the list of costliest tickets.

In data released by ticket aggregator TicketIQ following the release of the fixture schedule, games featuring the New England Patriots are first, second and fourth in terms of most expensive get-in price.

Leading the way at $331 (£260/€305) is the Patriots’ season opener on September 7 at home to the Kansas City Chiefs. In second spot at $312 is a repeat of last season’s Super Bowl, when the Patriots host the Atlanta Falcons. The Carolina Panthers’ trip to the Patriots’ 67,000-capacity Gillette Stadium in early October is in fourth place at $253.

The two top-five games that do not feature the New England Patriots are Dallas Cowboys at Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles at Seattle Seahawks.

“For Patriots fans looking to get a deal this season, the game against the Bills on Christmas Eve is currently the only game with tickets available under $200,” TicketIQ’s Jesse Lawrence told the Huffington Post.

“This will be Tom Brady’s first year playing football in his forties and the high prices this season indicates that Patriots fans understand there are only so many games left with Brady under centre.”

Lawrence added that fans who show patience will be rewarded with better deals closer to game time.

He said: “While tickets are not officially on sale through for all teams, that doesn’t stop brokers and other sellers from listing their season tickets as soon as the schedule is released. For potential ticket buyers, it’s important to note that prices will likely drop in the weeks and months to come, so patience is key, even for the most enthusiastic fans.”
