Brian Cox doubles ticket sales for science tour

Broadcaster and physics professor Brian Cox has sold more than 150,000 tickets for his tour, breaking his own Guinness World Record.

His initial record for the most tickets sold for a science tour was set late last year with his ‘Professor Brian Cox Live’ UK and Ireland show, which saw him reach an audience of more than 75,000 people from September.

Demand for the upcoming tour in May has pushed organisers to double the number of available tickets and find larger venues.

Cox will close the UK leg of his schedule at London’s Wembley Arena, his biggest show to date with a 12,500 capacity.

He will then take his show to European cities including Stockholm, Sweden, and Oslo, Norway.

Cox told the Press Association, according to the Yahoo news website: “The exciting thing about these, from the (shows) before Christmas, we’re in really big venues.

“We have a really big screen, a ridiculous screen – it’s a state of the art LED display, it’s something like 30m wide and 15m high.

“It’s huge, and what you realise is the images we’ve now got from the Hubble and Cassini, which has been in the news a lot over the last few weeks, they’re such incredible high-res images, when you put them on screens like that and fill arenas with them, they look spectacular.”
