Live Nation’s $20 promotion sells 1m tickets in a week

Live Nation’s $20 (€18/£15.50) ‘Kickoff to Summer Ticket Promotion’ has officially sold out, with more than one million tickets purchased in just a week for shows in the US.

The promotion ran for one week from May 2-9, and started the concert season with a presale on National Concert day on May 1.

Tickets for more than 1,000 shows cost Live Nation customers only $20 as part of its ‘Kickoff to Summer Ticket Promotion,’ including John Mayer, Future, Chris Brown, Earth, Wind & Fire, Enrique Iglesias and Zac Brown Band (pictured).

Live Nation said in a statement: “For fans who missed out on the $20 deal, it’s not too late to plan out a summer concert. With most tours and festivals already announced, it’s a great time for fans to get tickets to shows throughout May, June, July and August.

“While the $20 tickets are gone, there are still tons of regular tickets available to Live Nation summer concerts.”

To celebrate National Concert Day on May 1, Live Nation produced a show in New York City at Irving Plaza. The event featured performances from country music star Jason Aldean, Foreigner, The Roots, Daughtry, Prince Royce and Nickleback.

Additionally, OneRepublic performed live on NBC’s Today show on May 2 to launch the ‘Kickoff to Summer Ticket Promotion’.
