Live Nation launches $799 global Festival Passport

Live Nation has launched a Festival Passport that gives holders entry to dozens of events across the world.

The company described the $799 (£620/€720) pass as “a revolutionary experience”, with holders able to gain admission to nearly every Live Nation festival, even if it is already sold out.

Some of the more than 90 events included are Austin City Limits Music Festival, Bonnaroo, Creamfields, EDC (Las Vegas and Orlando), Governors Ball, Isle of Wight, Lollapalooza (Chicago, Paris, and Berlin) and V Festival.

One thousand Festival Passports are to go on sale on May 22, and are non-transferable. Each Festival Passport is equipped with a unique ID and powered by Live Nation’s specialist festival division Front Gate Tickets.

The company said: “With festivals spanning 15 countries and every music genre from country to EDM, Live Nation is excited to offer fans this one of a kind festival experience.

“The process is simple: show up at the event, take the Festival Passport to will call with a valid ID to get a designated wristband for that festival, then enter and enjoy the show.”

Live Nation has been expanding its festival division in recent times and earlier this month launched a ‘Kickoff to Summer Ticket Promotion’, through which more than one million $20 tickets were purchased in just a week for shows in the US.

It acquired eight events in 2016 and is set to beat that figure this year, having snapped up BottleRock Napa Valley among others. However, it’s takeover of the Isle of Wight Festival, announced in March, is being investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
