Metallica thrash opponents in Vivid Seats list

Vivid Seats have named Metallica and the Classic festival as the biggest draws of the summer in the US.

In its pricing preview for the top-selling live music events of the 2017 summer season, Vivid Seats said tickets for Metallica’s WorldWired tour are proving the most popular.

Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga are next on the list, but U2 – fifth on the list – with an average price of $262 (£200/€230) are the most expensive. U2 were last week named top-selling live music act in the US for summer 2017 by StubHub. Vivid Seats said some of the highest average ticket prices for U2 appearances are at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas ($313) and Chicago’s Soldier Field ($308).

Veteran rockers Tom Petty, Roger Waters, Neil Diamond, Iron Maiden and Guns ‘N’ Roses also feature in Vivid Seats’ top 20.

Vivid Seats said the Classic, which is to take place in Los Angeles and New York, is the top music festival of the summer. The event has a get-in price of $145 and average of $397. Lollapalooza and Cincinnati Music Festival make up the top three on the list.
