StubHub’s NYC retail store designed to help tourists make decisions

StubHub’s flagship retail ticket store in New York City, set to open tomorrow (Tuesday), will focus primarily on offering event discovery services to tourists.

The store, based in midtown Manhattan, just south of Times Square, will include an interactive area, photo booth and live event space on the lower level. It will also house self-serve kiosks and a screen that shows all events and activities going on around the city.

Tomorrow (Tuesday), when the StubHub store opens, customers will still be buying from the same pool of online tickets, however, spokesman Cameron Papp said the store would be “a little more discovery-focused than the normal transactional focus we have now.”

“A lot of people go to StubHub now when they know they want to see ‘Hamilton’,” Papp said, according to the dnainfo website. “This is designed [for] when you walk in, and you’re not sure.”

There will be a new app to assist patrons find shows, games and other events, as well as having customer-service staff on hand to help with the purchasing process.

“Essentially, it will say, ‘What do you want to do in New York today?’” Papp said of the app.

In addition, the flagship will use its store to host autograph signings, meet-ups and potentially musical performances, Papp said.
