Olly Murs fans have been told to claim refunds on their credit cards after two of his concerts were cancelled due to the organising company going into liquidation.
The pop singer’s appearances in Exeter and Bournemouth, scheduled to take place in the next fortnight, have been scrapped after Stephen C Associates Limited ceased to trade.
Fans who spent hundreds of pounds on tickets to see the star have been left furious after they were told the company is “not in a position to offer…a refund”.
In a statement the former company added: “However, if you bought VIP packages with a credit card, you should contact your credit card company immediately and ask them to refund your money. If you have purchased your tickets through one of the nominated ticket agents you should contact them in the first instance.”
The company provided a link to a form for those who wish to “lodge a claim in the liquidation”.
Despite the organiser failing to refund fans, Nottingham-based Gigantic Tickets said it would not leave customers out of pocket.
In a statement, Gigantic said: “We can confirm that Gigantic is giving its customers face value refunds on their tickets to the cancelled Olly Murs gigs in Exeter on July 29 and Bournemouth on August 5. We have emailed all our customers and they will be directly refunded to the payment card they used during the next 10 days.”
Murs, the former X Factor presenter, said he had been left “gutted” by the news. He tweeted: “I’m so gutted for my fans in Exeter & Bournemouth. Although it’s out of my control I’m still so sorry & hope I can get to see you all soon!”
One disgruntled fan tweeted: “Olly as a fan I am devastated. I work hard for my money and to pay extra to see you I was so happy. Now no refunds, it’s disgusting.”
Murs’ other summer gigs are all due to go ahead as planned.
