Thomas Morand to head Ticketcorner’s ski division

Swiss firm Ticketcorner has appointed Thomas Morand as its new director of ski ticketing.

Morand has spent the last two years as the head of sales for the Alpine Ski World Championship in St Moritz. Previously, Morand was, among other things, managing director of Uvex Switzerland for six years.

Morand replaces Michael Meier, who departs Ticketcorner this month for personal reasons.

Ticketcorner chief executive Andreas Angehrn said: “Under Michael Meier, the ski business of Ticketcorner has developed very successfully. We are very grateful for the fact that we will be able to continue our ambitious growth strategy with Thomas Morand.”

In the past two seasons, Ticketcorner’s share of digitally-sold winter sports tickets has doubled. The company expects further investments and innovations ahead of the upcoming winter season.

Angehrn said: “The requirements of the market require a great deal of investment in the digitalisation of the ski business. State-of-the-art technologies and new services and innovations will enable many advantages for mountain railways and skiers in the future.”

Ticketcorner, which is Switzerland’s leading ticket operator, earlier this week responded to Ticketmaster’s entry into the market by saying it remains the country’s “strongest digital retail brand”.
