COO Libby Penn departs Spektrix

Spektrix, the UK-based arts ticketing, marketing and fundraising platform, has parted company with its COO, Libby Penn.

Her departure was announced to Spektrix staff earlier this week but there has been no official public announcement.

As chief operating officer, Penn was managing the company’s business, growth and global marketing strategy across the UK, Europe and North America. She first met Spektrix co-founder Michael Nabarro in the depths of the ADC Theatre where she spent her time directing shows during university.

She had been with Spektrix for over four years and had been instrumental in the growth of the business from startup to supplying over 300 arts and culture organisations including the establishment of a footprint in North America through the New York office. Her LinkedIn profile lists the following success:

  • 40% year on year growth globally;
  • 99% client retention;
  • client base growth to 300;
  • headcount growth to nearly 80 people;
  • £1m ticket sales processed a day;
  • 40% market share of UK theatre sector.

Her achievements were recognised with her receiving TheTicketingBusiness Executive of the Year Award 2017.

“Libby has been instrumental in growing the business, having seen our client base grow from 100 to nearly 300 across the UK and North America, and the team grow from 25 to more than 90. This year she has been central to bringing in our new senior team and setting us up for our next phase of growth,” Nabarro told TheTicketingBusiness. “With that team now in place she feels that now is the right time to seek a new challenge.”

He added: “I want to thank Libby for everything she’s done for Spektrix in the last four years. Her drive, passion and endless enthusiasm will be missed. We wish her every success in the future.”

Inside sources say that Penn will be finishing up in her role over the next few weeks and then she’s “going to take a bit of time out and enjoy life for a bit before jumping into her next role”.
