Global travel management and events company ATPI Sports Events has expanded in the Canadian market with four new executive hires.
The recruitment drive comes after the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) earlier this year named ATPI its official ticketing and hospitality services partner for the next four Olympic Games.
ATPI Sports Events is an events business with specialist teams delivering travel, events, corporate hospitality, ticketing, branding and sponsorship activation for leading events and sports brands around the world.
Its clients have included the English Football Association, the Welsh FA and The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), The Dutch Olympic Federation and many international hockey, marathon running and speed skating teams.
Mathieu Marios will head up the expanded team as general manager, leaving his position at Vision Travel where he helped to develop its business within the corporate and school travel markets. With ATPI, Marios will be responsible for increasing the firm’s presence within Canada.
Sarah Paterson has been named as head of National Olympic Committee (NOC) and sports relations, with ATPI arranging all travel for Team Canada athletes and officials up to the 2024 Games. She previously spent over three years managing the relationships between the Rio 2016 Olympic Organising Committee and over 60 NOCs in the regions of Asia and Oceania. This is in addition to two years collaborating with NOCs in the build-up to London 2012.
New head of commercial relations Kevin Perrin brings in 17 years of experience within the corporate travel industry.
Finally, Nada Di Valerio has been hired as ATPI’s travel manager, with more than 20 years of experience of managing complex travel programmes and handling group requests.
Helen van Berkel, managing director sports & corporate events, the ATPI Group, said: “Given our reputation for delivering world-class service and with a stream of high-profile sports events coming up, we’re delighted to have attracted such talent to support key areas of the business.
“Under Mathieu’s leadership we are confident that ATPI Sports Events will now be even better placed to build on our long-standing relationships with sporting brands over the coming years. For now, we look forward to helping even more Canadians cheer the national team onto victory next February at the 2018 Winter Olympics.”
